Note:

The Summer Pre - Kindergarten Program is a self-sustaining program provided through the Farmingdale Youth Council Summer Recreation Program. The $285.00 fee includes instructional costs, materials, and a T-shirt.

The Summer Pre-K program is a multidimensional program designed to introduce pre-kindergarten children to art materials, creative crafts, music, rhythms, dramatic play, and a sense of
self-awareness within a kindergarten setting.

• Children will spend their day in a classroom utilized by the kindergarten program of the Farmingdale School District.
• Pre-K staff will reinforce proper classroom behavior in order to prepare participants for kindergarten in September. (i.e. listening skills, responsibility for one’s actions, clean-up, following instructions.)

In order to enroll in this program, your child must be eligible to attend kindergarten in September 2025 AND must also be enrolled in the Farmingdale School District.

Classes are scheduled to meet Monday through Friday 9:30 AM to 12:30 PM.
Beginning on Monday, June 30, 2025 and Concluding on Friday, August 1, 2025.
(Classes will not meet on Friday, July 4th.)

Typical day at Pre-K;

• 9:30 AM – Drop off

• Group discussion about the theme of the week, the day of the week, the weather, and the Letter of the Day!

• Free Play – Supervised play within the classroom and outside on the school’s playground equipment. (Classrooms are set up for maximum learning and fun.)

• Craft/Learning Project – Crafts and lessons are built around the theme of the week. These Themes always support the children’s growth and development, as well as aid in the preparation for Kindergarten.

• Snack – Parents are asked to bring in a “class snack” during the first few days of the program. (A snack that can be shared amongst the children.)

• Snack will be provided on the first day.
• “Bug Juice” (A Kool Aid type drink.) will be provided every day.
• Parents will be notified of any food allergies in the classroom on the first day, to make it easier when they select the “class snack” to bring in.
• Children with food allergies are encouraged to bring their own snacks daily as a precautionary measure.


• 12:30 PM – Pick up (Please be prompt.)

Program Trips & Center Special Events

• Farmingdale Public Library - Included in Registration Fee.
• Trip - Additional fee charged - Teacher will provide additional information.
• Center Annual Picnic – Teacher will provide additional information.
• End of Season Party – Teacher will provide additional information.
