All FYC 2025 Summer Programs will be closed on Friday, July 4th.

*****PARENT LETTER - PLEASE READ*****

Dear Parents,

The Saltzman Staff and I would like to welcome you and your children to the Farmingdale Youth Council 2025 Summer Recreation Program. This year’s program looks to be even better than those in the past, with daily recreational activities, trips, and a variety of special events. In order to operate a safe and successful program, the staff asks that all parents and participants in our program adhere to the following.

1. The 2025 Summer Program begins on Monday, June 30, 2025 and concludes on Friday, August 1, 2025.

• Parents dropping off and picking up children by car must use Daniel Street to access the designated Drop Off and Pick Up location in the front of the building and then exit using Mill Lane.

WHEN DROPPING OFF AND PICKING UP, WE REMIND EVERYONE TO PLEASE BE AWARE OF WALKERS.

• Rec. starts at 9:00 A.M. No children will be permitted to enter the building before this time.

• Dismissal will begin at 12:50 P.M. Please be prompt. Dismissal will take place on Mill Lane in front of the building. Children will be escorted to this area by the Center’s staff. The Bus Circle and Parking Lot will be closed to all vehicular traffic.

• All children are to enter and exit at the gate next to the playground, to the right of the main entrance.

• Parents / Guardians may only enter the building through the Main Entrance.

• A Crossing Guard will be located at Daniel Street & Mill Lane.
(Please notify our Office if your child is a bike rider or walker.)

• All bicycles should be securely chained and locked in the bike racks. No bicycles will be permitted in the building.

• PLEASE NOTE – Due to Summer Trips and Special Events, it may be necessary at times to alter the program hours. In such instances, these hours will be noted on the activity’s flyer.

2. Appropriate behavior of all participants is expected at all times.

• Participants are not to open or disturb Teacher’s Desks, closets, supplies, personal belongings or any other contents of the areas that are used by the Summer Program.

• Participants are to remain with their assigned groups at all times.

• Running in the halls, sitting on windowsills, and sitting on desks or tables are not allowed.

• Roughhousing, fighting, abusive or obscene language, and bullying will not be tolerated. (And may result in dismissal from program.)

• For safety reasons, all participants must wear sneakers (no wheels) every day and participants should not wear any jewelry to the program.

• Participants are not to bring cell phones, games, toys, or other valuables to the program. The Summer Program cannot assume responsibility if any personal items are lost, broken, or stolen.

3. Snack time is built into our daily schedule. Participants should bring a snack/drink with their name clearly labeled on it. (Glass bottles and fan water bottles are not permitted.)

4. Only Cash and Money Orders will be accepted as payment for trips and special events.

5. If it is necessary for your child to be dismissed early, please contact our office so that arrangements can be made. Only a parent / guardian with proper photo id will be allowed to pick up a child before dismissal.

6. If your child has an allergy or other medical condition that we should be aware of, please notify us as soon as possible.

CELL PHONE USE

• Use of Cell Phones during program hours is not permitted by program participants.

• Cell phones are the participant’s responsibility. The Farmingdale Youth Council, Inc., the Summer Program, The Farmingdale Union Free School District cannot assume any responsibility for cell phones that are lost, damaged, or stolen.

• All cell phones are to be turned off and out of sight during program hours and on all program trips.

• Taking of and/or viewing of photos or videos, as well as the accessing of any social media, and texting during program hours or on program trips by program participants is strictly prohibited. Please be advised that violations of this policy will result in disciplinary action that may include immediate dismissal from the program.

• Should it be necessary for a parent / guardian to contact their child during program hours, they may do so by calling the Center’s Office.
